Do you have questions about the EVVY Awards? We'd love to answer them. Check out our FAQs below, and feel free to reach out through our contact form if you can't find what you are looking for here.

Why do I have to pay to submit my work?

The EVVY Awards doesn’t receive a guaranteed budget each year.  Thanks to generous donations from the College’s VMA department, Emerson’s Student Government Association, private donors and other organizations, the production receives part of the funding necessary to produce the show.  Submission fees and ticket sales help us close the gap.

Can I submit a project that contains copyrighted material?

Yes. Student projects are legally allowed to use copyrighted material.

Who judges the submissions?

All categories are judged by industry professionals.  Notable past judges have included Rachel Dratch of Saturday Night Live, Wendey Stanzler, a director from Grey’s Anatomy, and Matt Cheese, editor of Finding Neverland.

There’s a category that I wish existed. Who should I tell?

We always welcome new suggestions for future categories. E-mail submissions@evvyawards.org with your ideas.

I heard that once I submit to The EVVYs, they own the rights to my work. Is that true?

Absolutely not! We reserve the right to showcase your work if it is nominated during the live show in multiple ways, but in no way do we own your work.

Will I be able to watch the broadcast online?

Yes! The EVVY Awards stream on our website. A link to the stream will be posted a few days before the show. The show begins at 7:00pm EST on May 8, 2020. If you’re on campus, it will also be broadcast live on The Emerson Channel.

Who should I e-mail about ______?
