Outstanding Lead Male Actor for Stage
Lead male performance in a live theater production.

Outstanding Lead Female Actor for Stage
Lead female performance in a live theater production.

Outstanding Supporting Male Actor for Stage
Supporting male performance in a live theater production.

Outstanding Supporting Female Actor for Stage
Supporting female performance in a live theater production.

Outstanding Male Actor for Screen
Male performance in a film or TV series.

Outstanding Female Actor for Screen
Female performance in a film or TV series.

Outstanding Radio Personality
A hosted radio program. All personal references need to be edited out.

Outstanding Television Personality
A host of a television program. All personal references need to be edited out.

Film

Outstanding Animated Program
Single animated piece. Can be digital or hand animation.

Outstanding (Beginner) Film
Must have no more than one picture track and two monaural audio tracks. Only analog cuts/splices and in-camera effects are permitted. All other post-production effects are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification. Films must be shot on Bolex and edited on Steenbeck editing table.

Outstanding Cinematic Achievement
Must be complete film. Can be shot or taped in any format.

Outstanding Cinematography
Any edited television, video or film production that shows camera, lighting and composition abilities. Can be film or digital.

Outstanding Documentary
A non-fiction documentary film or video.

Outstanding Single-Camera Direction
Any single-camera production including television, video or film projects. Must be submitted by the director. Can be narrative or non-narrative.

Broadcast

Outstanding Beginner Video
A short video segment. Must be submitted by the producer. Work produced in Visual Media Arts organizations is prohibited and must be produced before the producer takes an Advanced TV Class. Can also include music videos.

Outstanding Multi-Camera Direction
A live-switch, multi-camera production. Director’s Track must be included on the audio portion of the submission.

Outstanding Field TV Series
A scripted, single camera television production. Must be submitted by producer.

Outstanding Studio TV Series
A multi-camera live, or live-to-tape production shot in studio. Must be submitted by producer.

Outstanding News Program
Any televised news program. Must be submitted by producer or writer. Submissions must include one episode of the program as broadcast.

Outstanding Television News Segment
A news package for broadcast. Must be submitted by producer or reporter.

Outstanding Television Reporter
A reporter who wrote and appeared in an on camera news package.

Outstanding Radio News Program
A hosted radio news program. All personal references need to be edited out.

Behind the Scenes

Outstanding Editing
Any edited television, video, or film production. Must be submitted by editor.

Outstanding Motion Graphics
Any original graphics package made for a production.

Outstanding Live Audio Mix
A live recorded audio mix. No overdubbing or multi-tracking permitted. Cannot be edited.

Outstanding Multi-Track Recording
A multiple track recording. Tracks must have been individually recorded and mixed in post-production.

Outstanding Production Design for Screen
Footage and production stills of production design for a film or television production. Must be submitted by the production designer or art director.

Outstanding Sound Design for Screen
The field recording and mixing of a film or video.

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy
An original comedic teleplay or screenplay, in WGA screenplay format.

Outstanding Writing for a Drama
An original dramatic teleplay or screenplay, in WGA screenplay format.

Theater

Outstanding Sound Design
Any original sound design of a live show. A select panel of judges will attend all submitted shows to adjudicate.

Outstanding Choreography
Any original choreography of a live show. A select panel of judges will attend all submitted shows to adjudicate.

Outstanding Direction
Any student directed theatrical production. A select panel of judges will attend all submitted shows to adjudicate.

Outstanding Theatrical Production
Any student directed theatrical production. A select panel of judges will attend all submitted shows to adjudicate.

Outstanding Costume Design
This must be submitted in a portfolio and must include sketches of the design, photos of the completed products (including but not limited to stills from the production), and a statement of design inspiration. It may also include any additional information such as process photos of built or altered pieces and a statement of how the design enhanced the overall show.

Outstanding Lighting Design
This must be submitted in a portfolio form and must include a light plot, photos of the completed design (including but not limited to stills from the production), and a statement of design inspiration. It may also include any additional information such as process photos and a brief explanation of the feeling that you were aiming to achieve with the design.

Outstanding Scenic Design
This must be submitted in a portfolio form and must include a ground plan, photos of the completed design (including but not limited to stills from the production), and a statement of design inspiration. It may also include any additional information such as process photos and a brief explanation of the how the design enhanced the overall show.

Writing

Outstanding News Article
An article intended for the News section of a journalistic publication. Submission must be the original version submitted to editor.

Outstanding Review
A journalistic criticism article. Submission must be the original version submitted to the editor.

Outstanding Sports Article
An article intended for the sports section of a journalistic publication. Submission must be the original version submitted to editor.

Outstanding Photography
Any digital or film photograph. Digital signature should be removed. Film photographs must be scanned and submitted online. Drawings, paintings, composites are not allowed.

Outstanding Photojournalism
Any photography used for a news publication. Must be scanned and submitted online.

Marketing & Advertising

Outstanding Integrated Marketing Campaign
A strategic plan that demonstrates and utilizes marketing and PR tactics. This plan may include, but is not limited to, press releases, media alerts, pitch letters, advertisements (television and print), company backgrounders, surveys, web development, and event planning.

Outstanding Advertisement
Any print advertisement used for marketing such as a flyer, poster, magazine ad, or video promo ad.

Outstanding Public Relations Campaign
Any public relations campaign that encompasses viral and social media aspects.

Writing

Outstanding Original Play
Any original written theatrical production.

Outstanding Poetry
Any poem or poetry anthology.

Outstanding Prose — Fiction
Any fiction prose piece such as a short story or novel.

Outstanding Prose — Non-Fiction
Any non-fiction prose piece such as a memoir or biography.

Communication Studies

Outstanding Social Advocacy Campaign
Any campaign composed with the purpose of improving a societal problem.

Outstanding Political Campaign
Any campaign composed with the purpose of furthering the agenda of a political candidate, political party, or proposed legislation.

Digital Media

Outstanding Internet Broadcast
Content must originally appear online. Must be submitted as a URL address that directly links to the broadcast. Content can be video or audio, and must be streamed directly to the Internet.

Outstanding Blog
Any original written or video content that only appears online.

Outstanding Video Blog
Any original exclusively video content that only appears online.

Outstanding Web Design
Any personal, organization, or company website designed exclusively by a student.
